What rakeback
is actually worth
Every crypto casino advertises a rakeback percentage and almost nobody explains what the percentage is of. Get that wrong and you will overestimate it by a factor of ten.
The misunderstanding that matters
People read "50% rakeback" as half their losses coming back. It is not that. It is a share of the house edge — the casino's built-in margin — not a share of what you lost.
Work it through. Say a slot has a 4% house edge and you wager $1,000 over a session. The casino's expected take is 4% of turnover, so $40. A 50% rakeback returns half of that: $20. Not $500.
Rakeback = turnover × house edge × rate. Three numbers. Turnover is everything you bet, not your deposit — a $100 deposit cycled ten times is $1,000 of turnover.
Why $20 is still worth having
Because it changes the effective return. A 4% edge with half of it returned behaves like a 2% edge, which lifts effective RTP from 96% to 98%. Over a long enough session that is a real difference in how fast a bankroll erodes.
Two things make it worth more than a bonus of nominally larger size:
It pays on losing bets too. Rakeback is calculated on turnover, so it arrives whether the round won or lost. A deposit match only helps if you clear its conditions.
There is nothing to unlock. A $500 bonus at 40× wagering requires $20,000 of turnover before withdrawal, and at a 4% edge you expect to lose $800 getting there. The bonus was never worth $500. Rakeback at $20 is worth $20, immediately.
Work out your own
Set the rate to whatever your account actually shows. Published figures for any operator drift between sources and campaigns — the cashier is the only version that counts.
What it does not do
Rakeback does not make a game profitable. An edge reduced is still an edge, and the expected result of playing long enough is still a loss — just a slower one. Anyone presenting rakeback as a way to beat a casino is describing arithmetic that does not exist.
It also does not apply evenly. Contribution rates differ by game type, and live tables, sportsbook bets and certain titles are commonly treated differently from slots. Check what your game contributes before assuming a headline rate covers it.
How Duel structures it
